in a sealed manila envelope

my boss just handed me my employment information. We pretended we were having our picture taken as he awarded the prize. We shook hands as he presented it to me smiling at an imaginary camera and audience.

So, As of Monday Morning I will be a Program Coordinator a non profit organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins who provides healthcare to women and families in developing countries. Less than 20% of our staff works here in Baltimore the rest of them work in these countries:

Afghanistan
Barbados
Benin
Burkina Faso
Chad
Cote d'Ivoire
Democratic Republic of Congo
Egypt
Ethiopia
Ghana
Guatemala
Guinea
Haiti
Honduras
India
Indonesia
Jamaica
Kenya
Madagascar
Malawi
Mozambique
Nepal
Niger
Pakistan
Philippines
Rwanda
South Africa
St. Kitts and Nevis
St. Lucia
St. Vincent and The Grenadines
Tajikistan
Tanzania
Togo
Trinidad
Uganda
Uzbekistan
Vietnam
Zambia

Here's a good atlas if you need a little help finding some of these on a map.

When I first came to work here, I made photocopies of a blank map of Africa to try to fill in all of the countries. Because I realized that out of all of the continents, I was the worst with African Geography, which is really important here.

The office is broken up into four "centers of excellence"
Family Planning and Reproductive Health
Maternal and Child Health
HIV/AIDS
Human Resources for Health

I work across all four of these centers in Global Business Development and Communications with a man who speaks in a French-African accent and a woman who wears far too much perfume.

Congrats! Sounds like a really interesting job.

Wifey is from a village in rural Trinidad. We've been there together three times, for a month each time. I've traveled around the island, and Tobago too (the proper name for the country is Trinidad AND Tobago- it's two islands). Tobago is an amazing place.

The winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature a year or so ago was Trinidadian- V.S. Naipaul. I've read a lot of his books.
