This weekend it was warm and everything started to melt. I found slim jim wrapper on my front lawn, underneath all of it. Apparently, where my house is positioned, when a storm comes along, all of the trash from the perpendicular street rolls down and gathers right near my stoop. I collect some pretty amazing things. Once, a pantyliner and plenty of plastic straws. I imagine people that hate straws are walking back to their house from Royal Farms and exclaim "YUCK! A straw!" and throw it down on the curb knowing eventually it will roll down into my tiny front lawn. The pantyliner? I have no idea about what happened with that.
But with all of this snow melting I've been day-dreaming a lot about weird snowy vacations. Like an Alaskan Cruise or this weird thing in Canada called the ice hotel which is rebuilt every winter. Everything is made of ice! You have to sleep on this ice bed in this super-duper sleeping bag and you can get drinks served to you in glasses made of ice. Oh! And then the week-long snow festival in Sapporo, Japan, where they build snow/ice sculptures the size of buildings. I prefer to think about these vacations from under my covers in my warm apartment. Because, I know if I went on any of these vacations I'd be whiney and cold and want to go home.
My mother came to visit and insists that my house is cold. She came to visit on Sunday and slept over last night. She slept on my couch so she could stay on-guard for murders because I live in the city. She kept waking me up with whispered urgency: "Wassthat? Didjahear something?" The only thing I heard was her stomping around at 5 am. This morning I had to move the skateboard - chair trap she placed in front of the door so I could leave to go to work. What a funny lady, but I don't think she should stay over on school nights anymore.
I guess this weekend was pretty outstanding: On Saturday the jman and I concluded a week-long adventure of watching documentaries on Kennedy with the movie JFK. That night I had a dream I was in the CIA.
Oh, on Saturday afternoon I saw my cousin who I just met for the first time in 15 years, like last year. He was 4 the last time I saw him before the Christmas party. Now, he's awesome. We had so much fun together and went duckpin bowling. I totally kicked his ass with a score of 114. My best score yet!
Friday I went to the show at the Ottobar that I posted about. It was great, even though I didn't win any goddamn raffles. I did get to talk to Rachel, for quite possibly the first time, saw Brian and Emma and even Jess B. From the Gooch. All in the name of charity. Oh, and this guy Chris, the one on the bass:

Lastly, I'd like to publicly thank Jaime for making me a delicious dinner last week which so kindly catered to my odd diet.
