Club Level

Friday i was a little down on my luck - or felt that way when i was drinking alone at Rocky Run. But everything changed when Katherine called to invite me to the orioles game. She had free tickets provided by everyone's favorite law firm, whatever the name of that place is where dan o. works.

She and I and Chris Freeland went.

It didn't bother us that my shoes were too fancy to walk all those blocks, or that it was a little chilly - we were in the club level. Yes, a story above all the throngs of pions, we were in the fancy seats. We held up our menu card and ordered drinks from a waitress and the O's totally kicked the butts of whoever we were playing. Later, I was too drunk to remember and kept asking who are we playing, again? I guess I didn't remember to remember. But it didn't matter. I was there with Chris and Katherine enjoying Camden Yards, just like the good lord meant for us to be. Right? right.

On the way home, we decided to take a taxi back to where we parked, by the talking head. No, no regular taxi for us. Not after such an extrodonary evening. We decided to ride a chariot. A man on a bike, pulled a bench for us to sit on, and we shouted at passengers on Pratt in their yellow cabs "oh your cab needs gasoline? ours just needs food and water." The air was chilly and exciting and we loved the man pulling us uptown. We stopped him, before the hill got too hard, worried about his aching thighs, we told him he didn't have to take us all the way and then we tipped him way too much and loved doing it.

So if blog posts ever have a moral this one should have one don't you think? which is it? 1. always drink alone, good things happen 2. don't ever be so far down in the dumps that you pass up an o's ticket 3. live in love with life
