Mean Jeanne Turns One Year Older
I gave her the gold charm I bought in NY. It was an axe.
Jeanne’s roommate Roxy and I were industrious and built a futon – okay, we didn’t build it, but we were pretty proud of ourselves when we put it together and it worked. Roxy, by the way, has the best hair and the best laugh. All of you who I told had nice hair – it ain’t got nothin’ on Roxy, and your laugh is a puny laugh that hardly counts as a laugh next to her. She also writes much more thorough posts than I do.
At some point I lost my wallet and recovered it. Which was of course, both nerve-wracking and then delightful.
Saturday, We all went to went to Exhumed, which is a horror movie night that Jeanne's friend puts on in Philly. We stayed for the first two movies Zombie and Evil Dead 2, before Jeanne finally let me leave. Haha. She loves horror movies, everyone in the theater loves them – thinks that they’re funny with their botched special effects and laughable dialogue. I, however, am completely terrified of them.
I was the only person who screamed in the whole theatre. I had my hoodie covering my face. At some point during Zombie, Jeanne covered my eyes for me because she thought that I might explode.
I found myself repeating “Ooooh this is sooo bad.” Or “Oh no! It keeps getting worse.” Of course it is and does! It’s a horror movie! The thing that I said that Jeanne thought was hilarious was “Oh no, they’re all gonna die; this is just awful!” It made me wonder how any horror movie enthusiast could be an optimist, nothing good ever happens. I guess this is one of the many reasons Jeanne is pretty amazing.

On Sunday we had a pot-luck dinner in Jeanne’s honor. We all went to Brian’s house where there are tiny kittens hanging out. From R to L: Cub, Fang, and everybody's favorite, Meatball:

I made eggplant parmesan, but vegan this time. I thought the fake cheese would be really gross, but it was pretty damn good. Jeanne’s boyfriend Brian made the most wonderful beets and this really good fake Indian dish. There was so much delicious food at the pot-luck we all sat around fat and tired before my long drive home.
It was such a great weekend and I really missed her. I can’t remember the last time we hung out for a whole weekend.
My favorite part, by far, was that we stayed up talking in her loft bed until one of us passed out… God, I love that.
