Hometown weekend

This weekend, I went to Philadelphia for my mother's 54th birthday and my grandmother's 89th birthday. My grandmother has a really neat spring coming up this year. Her youngest grandchild is graduating from high school - but also, check out this shit - her oldest great-grandchild is also graduating from high school in the same year. This blew my mind. I wonder if my mother will live that long - ack! to see my kid's KIDS graduate from highschool. wtf? that's insane.

The nearly workless weekend, as usual, was fantastic. I got to see my favorite baby niece and my entire extended family. I got to clean my mother's house and chit-chat and gossip like teenage girls. She and I ate tiny bagel pizzas and watched law & order.

We really got along. More than ever.

She helped me get ready on Saturday and let me borrow her cardigan, like we were sisters. She was excited that I was meeting a couple guys I used to hang out with in high school. Ah. It's fun seeing old friends; You remember that things are how they've always been and people who warmed your heart (or other parts) way back then, still do. We played 90's trival pursuit and rehashed the past over rum and cokes. I still tell dirty jokes and swear like a sailor, like I always did.

On Sunday I got to pick up my best friend, Jeanne in philly and steal her away to Baltimore with me. We stayed up till 5am on Sunday night, eating pastachios and looking at photos while gabbing on my couch. For some reason, on Monday (the most beautiful day of the year) I was too sick to go to work and had to stay at home and drink mango margaritas with jeanne and russell. We drew funny pictures which are probably not quite work sensitive.

I know you're keeping tally and secretly judging me, so you should know that I haven't called out sick since November. Okay?? God, cut me a break sometime, will you?
