Matilda? Ramona? Amelia Bedelia?

What was your favorite book in the second grade?

Mine was almost too obvious:

Next week is the last week of tutoring for the school year. I want to get 'Wendy' a few books that will really capture her attention over the summer as she goes on to start her 3rd grade year. I might go to The Book Thing this weekend and try to get stacks and stacks so she has plenty to read and a bundle of gifts when she leaves.

This kid really got into my heart.

Not only a great artist and poet, Mr. Silverstein was also the genius behind Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue." He had a few other entertaining songs he wrote, so it can be said that he was something of a Renaissance man.

I was so excited when I overheard someone talking about a tattoo they had from one of my favorite kids books. She said "This is from Tikki Tikki Tembo" and I turned around and said "Tikki Tikki Tembo No Sa Rembo Chari Bari Roochi Pip Perri Pembo?" And she said "Yeah." And I thought, God I'm gonna win Jeopardy someday. Or die single.
