instead of worrying everytime i post about how i never post, i'm just not even going to mention it, well, except for now, as i am obviously mentioning it.

just as the gooch went back into session, and all the people i love came back into town the snow came. and i have to say that i am upset that i havn't seen them and that my car stopped working and that we are all suffering from being couped up in chilly apartments.

my room is really cold at my apt. there is some sort of wind that comes through, a breeze from somewhere. two blankets just are not enough. so i've been staying at jason's apt.

the snow is nice though. jasons apt. has tall windows with white shutters, his bed is low to ground, and while lying on it next to jeanne as i was knitting, the snow did some amazing things in the air.

see, snow is snow, just a differnt form of percipitation, one which i have been witnessing nearly every winter of my life, but still it amazes me. each time it is differnt, some snows are wetter than other snows, some snowfalls are lighter like dust. but it is in the city that the street lamps catch the flakes in such a way tthat you can not help but to notice the meandering path hat each one takes to get to the ground. you can not miss the saunter of snowfall in the city.

at night, everything sparkles while it is still falling, everthing is covered and quiet, everything is hushed by it. and there is still an urgency you have about enjoying it. you must take it all in, you settle down and admire it settling down with you, because by 6 AM the traffic comes, the buses pass, the cars are shoveled out of their nests of snow and there are naked bits of asphalt showing when they leave. city snow at night is a precious thing, because by sunrise everything will be grey again.

i'm glad i got to see that this winter, it is a lovely painful thing. an aching beauty.
